Why do Federal grants affect our economy? The federal government provides grants for education, childcare, business expansion, real estate, and other expenses. Such federal grants help to improve the U.S. economy in many ways. By law, the federal government is obligated to set aside billions of dollars each year for state funding, business growth and development, research, college expenses, childcare costs, and personal living expenses. The federal government helps to maintain the United States economy. The following visual aid describes how government funding and federal grants boosts the overall status of the United States’ economic standing.

Federal Grants–>Education–>Businesses–>Employment–>Tax revenue–>Economic stability

By supplying Federal grants for education, the American people grow to become educated individuals that are capable of building businesses. These businesses help to create employment, which in turn, generates more tax revenue into the country. This productivity creates an upward slope in the U.S. economy. Government officials are well aware of this information; therefore, Federal grants are awarded every year to assist Americans with educational, professional, and personal living expenses._

The Federal government provides Federal Grants for State programs, which in turn provide resources for private organizations. State government programs are created to generate more business into each state. These state programs invest time and money into helping private organizations and small businesses develop and expand. Small businesses and private organizations help to buffer the unemployment rate by creating more jobs. By investing in small businesses and private institutions, local government officials help to increase each state’s tax revenue. This improves the overall productivity within each state, which in turn boosts the national economic status.

The unemployment rate has a negative influence on the U.S. economy. Unemployment causes unwanted tax increases for those that are employed. The revenue from tax increases are used to fund federal programs, which assist those, that are unemployed. Unemployment also increases crime, alcoholism, and drug addictions. Researchers have found that citizens that have difficulty in finding employment often turn to alcoholism, drug use, and acts of crime as way of dealing with their frustrations.

Federal Funds for Federal Grants

are set aside for private establishments, as well. Private organizations donate a portion of their revenue to smaller businesses in order to remain tax exempt at the end of each fiscal year. By providing funding for these small businesses, it helps to increase the job market. As more jobs are created, more families are likely to expand. As the population increases, the workforce increases. More production and sales are taking place within the United States, which improves the overall economy.

A vigorous economy is one that generates tax revenue, production, and employment. Maintaining a stable economy takes a joint effort both nationally and locally. In order to establish a healthy and productive economy, it is important to keep the unemployment rate low. As more businesses are developed, more jobs will be created. As a rule of thumb in the business world, it is often said that one has to spend money in order to make money. Spending has a positive affect when it is for investment purposes. By investing in education, the Federal government helps to assist individuals in working toward professional careers. By investing in small businesses, the government helps to strengthen communities and increase the job market. Such investments take the form of Federal grants. Thus, Federal grants are a major part of the United States’ economic well being.
